23rd Annual Oktoberfest at Ivy Hall

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
A celebration of marriage and family! This tradition of Oktoberfest has continued since 1810 and the wedding feast for the Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Theresa of Saxony-Hildburghausen. For more than two decades, Ivy Hall has continued the celebration locally and has been home to one of Philadelphia’s most gemütlich (cozy and cheerful) fall traditions. Our Oktoberfest has brought together families, friends, and neighbors for an evening of laughter, music, and plenty of food and drink. Whether you have German roots or not, you’re welcome—dirndl and lederhosen optional.
This year’s celebration features:

🍺 Imported German beer (ein Prosit!)
🎶 Live music and dancing to get everyone on their feet
🎈 Fun for the whole family—kids, teens, and adults alike
Rain or shine, Ivy Hall’s grand setting and warm hospitality make this an event not to miss. From the first “Willkommen” to the last “Auf Wiedersehen,” you’ll be part of a tradition that connects Philadelphia to one of the world’s greatest festivals.
Children’s Games with Prizes
From 5:00 to 7:00 PM, children can enjoy festive games and activities, complete with prizes.
Caricatures by Mike Arnold
From 5:00 to 8:00 PM, guests can have a free caricature drawn by a professional caricature artist. It is a fun keepsake from the evening and a great activity for children, families, and friends.
This year’s Oktoberfest will also feature Mike Arnold, a professional caricature artist known for creating fun, flattering, and entertaining cartoon portraits at events. Guests can watch their caricature come to life in just a few minutes and take home a memorable keepsake from Oktoberfest at Ivy Hall.

The tradition began in Munich in 1810, when citizens gathered to celebrate the royal wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. What started as a joyful festival of food, drink, and music has grown into one of the world’s most famous celebrations of family and community that has spread around the world.
More than two centuries later, we carry that same spirit of togetherness here at Ivy Hall—celebrating life, laughter, and the joy of being together.
