Scandinavian source:

This recital culminates in the remarkable “Variations on a Theme by Grieg,” a work by Walter Gieseking, based on a musical theme by Norway’s Edvard Grieg. It's a major work for flute and piano, rarely heard and with few existing recordings. While the composer for this work (the great, 20th century German/French pianist, Walter Gieseking) is not Scandinavian, his usage of a theme by Edvard Grieg as the basis for this powerful and beautifully written set of variations is in keeping with our concert’s concept. We believe this may be one of the first times this work has ever been performed in Philadelphia.

Please join us for this highly unusual recital, where we will speak about these wonderful, musical-cultural histories!

GENERAL ADMISSION: $30/ea.
SENIORS: $24/ea.
STUDENTS: $20/ea.
